Makiko Sato believes that people are key to the success of any project. It’s the principle that drives her approach to organizational change and development.
Her broad international business background shapes her perspective on evolving multicultural environments. She started her career as a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Tokyo, focusing on marketing and project management of global IT system implementation. Later, at PwC, she concentrated on organizational development. Her clients included many global pharmaceutical companies, a multinational carmaker and an international telecommunications carrier.
Working for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva, she helped develop a staff profiling and competency-based performance management infrastructure for a resources reform project. She also helped launch the “U.S.-Japan Innovators Project” – a multinational network of business and social professionals for the 100th Anniversary of the Japan Society in New York.
While Makiko officially left PFC in 2012, she remains a member of our consulting team and has maintained her focus on people by designing and developing workshops and facilitating professional development programs.
She earned her BA in international studies from Tokyo’s International Christian University and her master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She is a Certified Trainer by The Ken Blanchard Companies®.
